Fishing today found what “could happen if you lose your head. I got to the sand bar at the river but it wasn’t the sand bar. It was a big bunch of loon shit, got stuck in it and the more I tried to get out the deep I got in. It was damn scary for about ten minutes. Didn’t think I was going to get out of there for a minute. Nobody around. And if the river rose, I’d never have got out. Stuck.
I remember a Tarzan movie once . . . relax and pull gently lean forward and keep pulling slowly. Well that didn’t work. I was definitely sinking in. It got up to my knees on one leg and it wasn’t pretty. Fell forward and started pulling slowly. Hands in the mud; legs in the mud and not making much progress. But I did manage to slowly pull and struggle. Got to harder ground, and then slowly got more and more free. I got loose finally, and was just shaking. Heart was pounding. Then moved on to the car. It was pouring rain the whole time. The experience was not a great one, but it was a lesson. Be careful where you step around here. It may be your last. If not in the river, you could have a bear coming around then.
